Full Proposal
Installation of a small (4m x 4m) raft in Loch a Bharpa, Isle of North Uist . There will be a 220mm water intake pipe suspended under the raft, which will run for approximately 80m on the loch bed to an existing dam to the south east of the raft. This is to supply freshwater to the existing Bakkafrost Langass Hatchery. The current intake pipe for the hatchery is situated in the existing dam wall, this application is to extend the intake pipe out into the loch area and suspend it, to minimise the risk of organic material being sucked into the pipe. The pipe will be fitted with a filter cover on the end. The raft will be comprised of grey plastic floats and moored by a single point to the loch bed. This application also seeks retrospective permission for the installation of an access track, which was previously installed to facilitate repair works carried out on the existing dam.
