Plan to dismantle and remove a Sycamore tree due to a significant cavity and presence of wood-decay fungus.
Proposal as recorded
T1 Sycamore (Acer Psuedoplatanus) - Dismantle and remove. Although the tree is currently in generally good physiological condition, there is a significant cavity located approximately halfway up the main stem. The cavity extends to around halfway into the heartwood and has previously supported two large fruiting bodies of Dryads Saddle (Cerioporus squamosus). This species is a wood-decay fungus associated with white rot. While it is considered a secondary decay organism, once established it can significantly accelerate structural weakening of the host timber.
