Application to fell 2 poplar trees and cut back trees impinging on the building in area A2, subject to TPO 67N.

Proposal as recorded

A2 on plan, Trees along the fence around the unit, on or along the surfaced footpath (Fred Perry Way) These trees are subject to an area tree preservation order (67N Woodsmoor 1986) and local authority consent will be needed or notice given for dead, dying or dangerous tree works. This strip of woodland contains a moribund and mostly ivy covered hawthorn hedge with a row of larger poplar trees, these large trees are edge trees and tend to grow out close to or over the building. They have been cut back to allow the buildings construction but have subsequently grown back. One of the poplars is dead and another has extensive dieback in the crown and dead cracked bark on the stem, it is in poor condition. These 2 poor poplars could prudently be cut down to 2m stems and left as habitat poles. I suggest a sensible specification for the oak and the 7 remaining poplars is to reduce crowns back from the building to a vertical 3m clearance (ie removing all overhang as well), this will result in some topping of the building side poplar leaders and taking these back to a 5m clearance can only help long term. The building side overhang on this group extends (to the south by 10m) reducing this by 3m to suitable pruning points will leave a southerly branch extension of 6-7m, any height reduction will only be to the branches extending furthest over the building and will have no effect of the total height of these trees. In summary we seek consent to fell 2 poplar trees (ddd) and cut back from the building trees which impinge upon it that are growing in the area indicated as A2. TPO 67N.
