Full Proposal
Replacement of existing dormer window with a new timber dormer window matching the existing in design, dimensions, glazing pattern, opening method, materials and finish. The existing dormer structure will be retained with only the window and fascia being replaced due to deterioration. The replacement window has been designed as a near as possible replica of the existing window though this is not of the period to the house. Where possible and still retaining the appearance of the public realm, there will be no roof alteration or enlargement of the dormer. Only the window itself is to be replace due to rotting and the facia above the window and to the sides of the window, again due to deterioration and fitting of the window. These will be in marine grade ply (facia) and hardwood and painted to match what is replaced. The proposal is intended solely to replace a deteriorated window whilst preserving the architectural character and significance of the building. The replacement window will benefit from inclusion of a seal to the opening and fixed lights to improve the noise reduction and reduce condensation (Deventer compression weather seal spv 124 and an air vent giving an air flow rate of 3000 m both of which will not be visible from the outside. The window will be made from F.S.C grade Sapele using traditional joinery practices of mortice and tenons painted White to match existing with Ovolo moulding
